May has been such a beautiful so far month. Bluebells, sound baths , Mila's first walk in the woods and some very exciting news from the studio. Here is what I have been loving this month.
Into Nature
The scent of bluebells is unlike almost anything else. Soft and green, almost watery. Cool and slightly sweet like fresh air after rain, with something faintly honeylike underneath but with a freshness that stops it ever being heavy. It is really one of my favourites and so precious because you can only catch it for a few weeks a year and then it is gone.
After all of our eight puppies were collected by their new owners it was time to take our little one, Mila, the puppy we kept, out into the world. She is still too young to be on the ground so I tucked her into a little carrier and Josh and I took her into the bluebell woods for her very first walk, it was so cute!
The Wellness Edit
For the second month around the full moon Lola and I went to a sound bath, this time at Bhuti in Richmond its amazing how the frequency of the crystal bowls feels. Held in a dome the garden at the Bingham Hotel a really beautiful spot I really enjoy the reset. f you're not familiar with Bhuti, it is a special wellness space in Richmond where they do yoga and pilates as well as the sound healing sessions and great events.
Lunar energy can be quite disruptive and a sound bath is a wonderful way to rebalance, and I am finding especially around a full moon. The more I am aware of these subtle resonances and the more I am fascinated by how profoundly sound waves affects us all. More on this in this months Spirit Notes!
OUT AND ABOUT
If you haven't been to The Hawthorn in Shepherd's Bush, I can highly recommend it. We had the most wonderful lunch there last weekend with Josh's sister Casey and her fiancé Ian, flown in all the way from Sydney. They are serious foodies and they absolutely loved it. The scallops with wild garlic butter were outstanding, so much on the menu is seasonal and all beautifully presented. The fried chicken bar snacks are so naughty and completely delicious.
The Hawthorn is owned by the same people behind one of our favourite pubs in the Cotswolds, The Fox in Broadwell. Also highly recommended.
Beauty
I have always loved Victoria Beckham's smudgy eyeliners but recently I was given her bronzer and the foundation, which she made in collaboration with Augusta Bader. It is one of the best foundations I have tried. Super light but gives great coverage without looking cakey. I am converted.
What I've Been Wearing
Jean shorts and a cashmere jumper. Which sounds contradictory but is absolutely bang on for an English May as far as I am concerned. The days are warm enough for denim but a cashmere layer is still very much needed, especially in the evenings.
And ballet flats. Always ballet flats. I found the most beautiful Gucci pair on Vestiaire Collective and they are perfect for spring/summer. If you haven't explored Vestiaire for your wardrobe classics you won't be disappointed, I always find its good for shoes and boots.
This Month's Muse: Jane Birkin
With our Bagatelle collaboration coming together this month, our mood board featured Jane Birkin. The ultimate English girl who was loved by all of France. Born in London, she moved to Paris in her early twenties, fell for Serge Gainsbourg, and never really came back. And yet she never lost her English accent either. In fact the French adored her for it. She became, as the Mayor of Paris once described her, the most Parisian of English women. Effortless, boho, completely herself. Jeans and a white top. A basket bag. A tousled fringe. No effort, all charm. She just was. That ease, that nonchalance, that sense of being entirely at home in her own skin is something I find endlessly inspiring, especially fitting in a season like Taurus that asks us to stop performing and simply be.
The perfect muse for May.
From the Studio
I am so excited to finally share this.
We have been working on a collaboration with the Bagatelle hospitality group and it is ready very soon, launching across all their UK restaurants.
A beautifully bespoke designed bottle with our Dreams hand wash and lotion. Crafted with essential oils of Angelica, Fragonia and Fir Needle, the fragrance uplifts the spirits with fresh, herbaceous notes, invoking the transformative power of scent.
What's Made Me Happy
Looking after nine puppies was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done but also pretty exhausting towards the end. It was like having a small farm in Richmond. I was so sad when they went to their forever homes but also so relieved. But watching the joy and mischief they are bringing into and the happiness they are bringing to their new forever home make us all so happy. It was the most amazing experience for us as family and for some of my friends who kept coming to visit we all felt very blessed.
And of course, we kept a little one for ourselves. Mila, we love you.
With love, Tilly x
