Tilly Loves : The October issue

De-bobbled jumpers, Portobello treasures and wild October swims - just a few of the things that Tilly loves this month.

“As October arrives in a flourish of golden light and colder mornings, it brings a sense of excitement for the months ahead. Invitations for Christmas are starting to arrive, and we’re busy planning festive events—including a special Christmas gifting event and a party in the works! Evenings at home, as the dark nights draw in, are still my favourite and I am loving our Walk on the Wild Side fragrance, with its sensual bohemian spirit. As the nights close in, it feels like the right scent.”

THIS MONTH’S MUSE

My muse this month is Leonardo DiCaprio in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. With its comedic twist reminiscent of Boogie Nights, I loved DiCaprio’s character—slightly older, still handsome but mostly hilariously stoned, single dad. I found myself laughing out loud, especially with standout performances from Sean Penn and Chase Infinity.

FASHION

It’s got to be cashmere now! I’m de-bobbling my jumpers (surprisingly satisfying - if you need a great tool, check out Steamery).

When it’s not quite cold enough for a coat, a chunky scarf does the trick. I just found my old selection of scarves and wrist warmers from last year and have stocked up on a few new pairs from Brora.
For something upcycled, check out Etsy - because you can never have enough!

BEAUTY

I’ve gone blonder this month, and it’s amazing what a fresh haircut and blow-dry can do for you! We’ve been busy developing our own natural shampoo and conditioner, so hair has been a focus. I noticed my hair needed some TLC, so I stopped trimming it myself (never a good idea) and embraced more frequent salon visits. The extra colour adds volume and brightness - if you need a natural colourist in Richmond, message me for details!

OUT & ABOUT

Friday mornings at Portobello Road are a winter highlight. It’s fantastic on Saturdays too, but for vintage leather or unique pieces, Friday is the day.

There’s nothing like rummaging through the market for inspiration and eclectic shopping—check out our favourites Frank Akinsete, and Dulcie and Issy aka the twins, who always have great finds. Take your daughter or a friend, grab a coffee, and head to Golborne Deli to watch the world go by.

THE WELL-BEING EDIT

With the changing seasons, it’s especially important to look after your health.
As we gear up for Christmas and the business year ahead, sleep and energy are key. I love magnesium glycinate from Vitabright—my family all take these at night. Magnesium helps combat tiredness and fatigue, supports energy release, and is also great for muscles, nerves, mood, bones, teeth, and cellular health.

Since learning that we don’t make our own vitamin C (unlike animals!) and that it’s essential for fighting viruses, I take a daily dose. My favourite is Coyne Healthcare Biomax® Vitamin C Liposomal - efficiently absorbed, supports immunity, energy, and collagen, and is gentle on the stomach.

NATURE

Something about the cold makes me crave saunas and cold dips.
Last weekend, I went for a skinny dip in my sister’s swimming pond—my nieces caught me, which they found hilarious!

If you’re in London, check out Community Sauna.
I’m planning to try Beach Box Spa in Brighton and, if you’re in the Cotswolds, Scenic Sauna and Whichford Mill both look amazing.

SOMETHING THAT’S MADE ME HAPPY

The return of family Sunday lunches followed by movies on the sofa.
I’m currently loving House of Guinness on Netflix—the sibling relationships are so very nuanced and quite real, it’s refreshing.

I’m feeling grateful for my own siblings as we come together to look out for my mother.
Life’s a juggling act sometimes, so it’s important to take time for yourself, too. Being with friends is always good for the soul and helps keep spirits high and recharge for the week ahead.

With love,
Tilly & the Aja team x
